Eleven Rings Review

Eleven Rings cover (source)

Eleven Rings is a great read. Phil Jackson talks about leadership, coaching teams that won rings and Zen. Phil Jackson’s playing career was covered extensively too.

Something that stands out is how Phil’s playing career affected his future coaching. Red Holzman was the man in New York when Phil was there. He taught Phil a ton and the book goes into the more important lessons.

Everyone knows Phil Jackson’s into alternative thinking and spirituality. In the book, he talks about some of his different ways of doing things. One aspect that was nice was the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. Jim Butcher, Ricki Lee Jones and Tom Waits were a few quoted.

If you were a fan of the Bulls three peat teams or the Lakers, this book goes inside the lines of those squads. Phil had the to keep the likes of Dennis Rodman, Metta World Peace and many others in check. Hearing him talk all these personalities down is humbling.

If you like basketball, this book is a must read. One of the best coaches of all time talks about his trade. This gets five out of five apples! Grab this book at your local library or on Amazon.
